Medical doctors are conveniently located in Hoedspruit, just a short 2-minute drive from our property. Hoedspruit Private Hospital is currently being built and will be operational by October 2024 for any medical assistance you may require during your stay.

While Hoedspruit is classified as a low-risk malaria area, it's important to take precautions, especially during sunrise and sunset when mosquitoes are most active. We recommend using fly screens at the lodge/villa to prevent mosquitoes from entering the premises and rooms. Additionally, it's advisable to take appropriate measures such as using mosquito repellent and wearing long sleeves and trousers, particularly when venturing outdoors during peak mosquito activity times.

No pets are allowed on the premises

Guests are welcome to stroll around the Afrikaya grounds at night, but it's important to exercise caution and do so at your own risk. For added safety, we have provided torches and stair lights on the viewing deck. However, we advise against walking in the estate or wilderness areas after dark due to the potential presence of predators such as leopards and hyenas, which may pose a threat to safety.

No, feeding the animals is strictly prohibited. Feeding wildlife can lead to a change in behaviour. This applies to any animals seen in the Estate. Therefore, it is absolutely prohibited to feed any wildlife on the estate. Estate management monitors grazing conditions and intervenes if necessary.

While the animals on the estate may appear accustomed to human presence, it's important to remember that they are wild animals and should be treated with caution and respect. Touching, chasing, or cornering any wild animal is strictly prohibited. Occasionally, predators such as leopards, hyenas, and wild dogs may be present on the estate, along with other wildlife such as snakes and scorpions.

We have installed an inverter system with batteries to ensure uninterrupted power supply during load shedding or other unforeseen power outages. This means that essential amenities such as lights, plugs, low-watt appliances, WiFi, television, and fans will remain functional. Additionally, we have a gas stove and oven available for cooking purposes. However, please note that air-conditioners and other high-wattage appliances are not connected to the inverter and will not operate during power interruptions.
